Easy Come, Easy Go?

This card, right here, is the passport for many Miamians on any given day. Hard plastic, and a little bit bigger then an average size credit card, the Miami-Dade Transit EASY Card is something very vital to anybody living in the area. The design of the card is something of interest, with the motto "Easy Come, Easy Go" portrays significance that the public transit system in Miami is efficient and easy for passengers to utilize. Just a tad bit thicker then your average credit card, the EASY Card does not feel flimsy. Green, just like nature around us, this card is literally your ticket to all of Miami-Dade County.

Alas, does the card actually portray the public transit system accurately? Strong, vibrant, and easy to use? Hardly. The construction of the Metrorail, Metromover, and Metrobuses have all been in the epicenter of controversy in government. To this day, much of the system is heavily subsidized by the government to ensure that people can actually use it. The Metromover itself is even free to use! "Easy Come, Easy Go" it reads. For many poor Miamians, the public transit is all they have to get from home and work. Those rich locals who can afford the luxury of a car and the exorbitant gas prices never use the system. Police officers are always present onboard, and many of the areas that are serviced by the transit system targets poor areas. It's sad to think that a card so strong, so powerful, and so colorful is really the ticket for those that are poor and those that are reminded how inefficient the government here in Miami really is.
